How The Service Works
Referral to the Service
Our clients may be referred to the Service by their doctor or from other sources or, of course, clients may refer themselves, and the Service welcomes this. If you wish to contact us please dial direct using the confidential telephone number 0776 968 3347.
If there is no one to take your call, please leave your name and number and we will respond as soon as possible.
Counselling Sessions
After an initial assessment interview, appointments will normally be at a regular time each week and last for fifty minutes. Counselling may be for a limited period of weeks, longer term or open-ended according to need.
Counselling sessions are held at Milroy House in Sayers Lane off Tenterden High Street or at West View just south of Tenterden on the A28.
Parking, Access and Disability
Milroy House has extensive parking nearby but no wheelchair access. Parking is also readily available at West View which has easy access for wheelchairs and the infirm.
The Cost of Counselling
Tenterden Counselling Service is a registered charitable trust offering confidential counselling at an affordable cost. The Service relies solely on the donations given by our clients to pay for the costs of running the Service - for the provision of appropriate local accommodation, organising the work, having full and proper on-going training and ensuring supervision for our counsellors. Each counselling session costs the Service over £35. Some clients will be able to donate more while others may not be able to contribute as much or at all, and we recognise this. Your counsellor will ask you to consider the amount of you can donate to the initial assessment interview and to counselling sessions thereafter, and the amount can be re-negotiated if necessary to take into account any change in circumstances. We do not make a profit.
